Dear Members,
Well the weather came good for us for the Annual Skittles event on 10th July.  12 teams had a great night with a great supper of Pie & Peas provided by Elaine our caterer. The ‘Keith Nelmes’ Trophy was this year won by the ‘Averham Allstars’ with Mr David Guthrie captaining a fine long standing team in this event. Their competitors in the final were ‘Smalley’s Sparks’.  Our Annual Golf Tournament was held again at Rufford Golf Club with 8 teams competing. The winners this year were: Mike Gamage’s Team followed by John Gelsthorpe’s.  The Wednesday night snooker lads (play golf once a year) did not mange to break into the prizes yet, but maybe NEXT year they might have a ‘special prize for the ‘Amateur/Amateur’ players??
Thanks to Graham for his organisation of this event and to our Caterer for a great meal at the club.
We look forward to an Interesting Supper in September and a Gents Dining-In in November.

HOUSE & GARDEN
The wallpaper to finish off the dinning room has been purchased and should be put up soon.  It would be nice to get the pond fountain working again.  If any member has got a spare pump, or wish’s to sponsor a pump for the club, please see Guy Taylor.  We are also in the process of having a ‘Tree Survey’ done to see what we can remove to tidy up the garden.

SNOOKER
This years Handicap is down to the last 16 players.  We are looking to have the 2nd table (the one round the corner) overhauled this year.

SPECIAL NOTICE ! – We are still looking for a Member to ‘take on’ the snooker section.  If YOU are interested, you do NOT have to be on the Committee to do this.  So if you feel you can help your club in this way, PLEASE see Mel Watson ASAP.

TGFS

May Morning was celebrated in customary style.  It was just bad luck that a few choristers missed their footing on the way down, but Matron is seeing to them.  Outdoor lessons finally became possible and the examinations loom.  Unpaid premiums for preview of papers will result in automatic failure. .
